What we do in the shadows.

Taika Waititi and Jermaine Clement are the masterminds behind a disturbingly honest and sometimes raw and funny exposé of vampire life in Wellington. The premise of the movie is documentary makers “following a subculture of nocturnal Wellington life.” Or should that be ‘afterlife’?…. All who came out of their coffins donned their finest attire to make the Wellington premiere of the movie at the a Embassy truly a night to remember. (As long as you live) ….
The movie itself is very cleverly woven with threads of love, friendship, longing and laughs. Lots of laughs.
I will be sure and remember to make sure that my next sandwich is a virgin.

Tonight Wellingtonians dressed in vampire theme costume as if their life depended on it. I saw more capes, fangs and blood splatter in the audience at the premiere than I thought could possibly exist in the wardrobes of all NZers, let alone Wellingtonians. T&J have tapped into a not-so-sub-culture of Wellington that I hope we see more of.
Sequel anyone?

This is a bloody great movie. Get yourself along to see it before someone offers you some bisquetti…
