Here is a video depicting our holiday thus far:
Today was the perfect day. I sat on a sun-lounger reading my kindle for most of the afternoon.
It was not too hot, not too cool. It was just right.
I even napped.
Bliss.
Now this is a holiday.
Bit of a day for sightseeing and hiking.
Today’s hike was 3 hours on the Navajo Loop passing through the Queen’s Garden through to Sunrise Point in Bryce Canyon.
I don’t know enough words to do justice to describing the landscape. It is unlike anywhere else in the world.
The best I can do with my limited vocab and limited wifi is terracotta coloured limestone pillars surround you creating an otherworldly and magnificent landscape.
With a 525 million year history you better believe that this canyon is worth visiting.
Mormons were the first European settlers to live in the area. The Zion museum has many interesting artifacts including this book that tickled my fancy:
Zion Lodge opened in 1923 and many of the trails visitors walk today are the original trails. Carefully maintained of course.
I stayed safe and declined to climb the trail where six people have died.
I stuck to the scenic (read: safe) routes. There were plenty of those:
I became entranced by the meeting of the landscape and the skyscape. In Zion they are one and the same.
Always time to stop for a quick selfie in Zion.
The one where we rent a convertible Mustang and drive the four hours between Los Angeles and Vegas with the wind whipping our hair.
People don’t seem to be as obsessed with their lawns in LA as us Kiwis are.
Judging by the stores I see on every block what they are obsessed with is nails, cosmetic surgery and alcohol.
